I can be heard on TV!!!
So just to clarify, during the US National Championships, YOU CAN HEAR THE COWBELL on TV and even on the youtube videos!
The joy of owning a cowbell
So after I attending the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, I became the proud owner of a cowbell.=)
What is so fascinating about owning a cowbell? Well first of all, not everyone has one. Second, they are quite loud and can be used on many different occasions. Third, they can be a great conversation starter!
Once again, the title of this blog is joy, but I am a very "proud" owner of a cowbell! During the Olympic games, I attending the Men's short program for figure skating. At that time, I did not have one yet. Instead I had 2 posters to support an up and coming Canadian skater. I really wanted one, but $36.00 seemed like a lot of money for a cowbell at the time...well, not as much as $600.00 for the event ticket!
*It seemed like a lot because I was buying souvenirs left and right....
So when did I get the cowbell? After the Olympics, one of my friends informed me of an online sale for many Olympic items and asked if I wanted anything. Sure enough, the cowbells were there for 50% off! Hooray!
Now you are thinking... "So when did you actually use the cowbell?"
Well, I have used it as a mock fire alarm at the private school I teach. It immediately got the attention of my students.
Most recently, I used it at the United States Figure Skating Championships of 2011 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Believe it or not, I was the ONLY one there with a cowbell! And I CAN BE HEARD!!! Even though I can't be seen, I can clearly be heard!
I'll post of a picture of my hand held size cowbell later... but in the meantime, you get to see me holding an official "mother of all cowbells". (Yes, it was for sale too, not just display purposes. Regular price was $249.00, sale price was half that amount).
Oh yeah, did you want to know the purpose for cowbells in general? Let me know if you would like to know a little more about cowbells in general and I'll add a post for why cowbells were invented.=)
